Numerical investigation on mooring line configurations of a Paired Column Semisubmersible for its global performance in deep water condition

The advances observed in the offshore-renewable industry include recent development of a deep draft paired column semisubmersible platform developed for application on dry trees Gulf Mexico (GoM). These developments led to innovation Paired Column Semisubmersible by Jun Zou Houston Offshore Engineering. This paper presents detailed investigation mooring line analysis two different configurations hull (PCSemi). numerical research PCSemi coupled with lines was conducted, and model validated. Two were investigated: Chain-Polyester-Chain (CPC) Polyester-Polyester (PP) configurations, dynamic coupling frequency domain (FD) time (TD) using ANSYS AQWA Orcaflex. A comparative study is also investigated 2,438 m water depth at GoM, 16 catenary design. Results this gives natural period floating PCSemi's heave motion ranged from 21s 22s. Also, effect damaged increased tension other lines. Lastly, CPC configuration has smaller amplitude wave-frequency motions compared PP depicted global performance.
